My headaches are gone

Immediately after the car accident I had numbness shoot down my leg. As I was talking on the telephone to the claims agent my arm went numb.

The day after the accident I felt fine except for a knot in my back. It felt like a twisting dull pain. I also had headaches and was taking Advil two to three times a day.

I thought the pain and headaches would go away on their own but they didn’t. That’s when I decided to go see Dr. Schwantes. He was able to find just the right spots that reproduced the pain in my neck and that shot pain into my arm and leg.

The treatments really helped my problem. Currently the headaches are gone and the knot in my back is almost nonexistent. Since I am a bartender and on my feet all day, my back used to tire very easily

After beginning care, every day seemed to get better and better. As I neared the end of my treatments I realized Dr. Schwantes KNEW what the problem was and just how to fix it.

Today, as my treatment ends, I no longer have any pain, numbness or tingling anywhere. My headaches are gone and I’m doing things that I never thought I could do before.

My name is Jim V. On December 8, 2005, I was involved in a car accident. The small truck I was a passenger in was rear-ended as we sat at a red light. I was violently thrown forward and then pulled back in my seat. At first I really did not think I was injured. I was taken to the hospital where a doctor asked me numerous questions and gave me a quick check-up to make sure there were no serious problems. Not finding any immediate injuries, I was sent home.

Within the next two days my neck and back started to stiffen up. Four days after my simple fender bender I was unable to bend over to put my shoes and socks on. About that time I started developing minor headaches. Being one of the lucky people who did not ever get headaches, I became concerned. For the first time in my 48 years I began to take aspirin regularly. The pain in my neck and back would not go away and the headaches were getting worse. Laying down at night to go to sleep was painful. The headaches persisted. Two weeks after the accident, the throb in my head grew to a constant ache. My back and neck were so stiff and tight it made standing straight painful and tiring even though I was taking six aspirin a day!

About that time I was reading through my mail and came across a letter from Dr. Schwantes at Brooklyn Accident & Injury Center. The clinic was close to my home so I decided to call for an appointment.

After meeting with Dr. Schwantes and having a thorough initial examination, he began treating me for neck, back and headache pain. In the beginning I was skeptical, not realizing a relatively minor car accident could cause my body to go into this kind of painful shock.

I was grateful when after a few weeks of Dr. Schwantes’soothing and relaxing treatments the pain was not getting any worse. In fact, it seemed to be lessening. Going in to get treated by Dr. Schwantes became a very pleasant experience. My neck and back mobility started to improve. After six weeks of being expertly kneaded and aligned, my throbbing headaches were far less painful. Once again I started to feel like my old self.

The chiropractic thing was the new aspirin in my life. By the way, I have not had to swallow a pill since the first six weeks of going to Dr. Schwantes. Not only is he a very good and capable chiropractor, he also maintains a great patient-doctor relationship always answering all my questions while being very straight-forward and honest. He is a very kind, warm and passionate person and is very easy to talk with. He took the time to explain to me what he was doing and how certain treatments would possibly affect me. He never once made me feel nervous or the least bit uncomfortable.

After seeing Dr. Schwantes for the last four and a half months, I consider him to be a friend. His ability to laugh always puts me at ease.

Toni (the more than capable front office person) knew my name after my first visit. She always smiles and has something interesting and positive to say. Toni runs a great office and makes my visits carefree and simple. She does all the work so I don’t have to.

If you are lucky enough to receive a massage, then you know what feeling relaxed is all about.
I now go to see Dr. Schwantes once every two weeks. He aligns me and makes sure that I am staying loose and pain free. Not a headache in almost two months! For this I am most grateful. My neck is back to full mobility. Turning my head to back my car out of the driveway is once again possible. With some stretching exercises I am able to maintain full bending of my back without pain. I can touch my toes. I don’t think I could do this before my injury!
Recovery does take time and patience. With the proper treatment and professional care I received from Dr. Schwantes and his staff, I am on the road to a full and painless recovery.
Don’t think that a simple car accident can’t put your life into a stiff and painful existence. It can. It happened to me. I never had a problem with constant pain before my accident. Dr. Schwantes put an end to all my pain and did so with knowledge, professionalism and great bedside manner. Do we still use the term bedside manner? If not, it may be because it has mostly become a skill of the past. Not with Dr. Schwantes. He not only helped my body get back to normal, he also made me feel good.

Thanks Doc.
